The course will provide a broad and in-depth knowledge of the technology and scientific challenges of antibiotic discovery and clinical use of antimicrobials in an era of increasing multidrug resistance. Scientific concepts of drug screening and target identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing and interpretation, optimal dose selection and resistance selection, as well as regulatory and economic challenges of developing new antibiotics will be explored
